Hike Potato Chip Rock

The country around San Diego teems with great hiking trails, but nothing beats the iconic 6.4-mile round trip to visit Potato Chip rock. It’s a bit of a challenge, but stunning views across San Diego make a worthy reward.

Visit a Rooftop Bar

Need a cocktail after your hike? Head to one of San Diego’s rooftop bars to slake your thirst and take in views over the beach and ocean. There are quite a few along Mission Beach – the Cannonball is a perennial favorite.

View the Sunset Cliffs

When the sun’s about to go down, where else would you go but Sunset Cliffs? It offers stunning vistas throughout the year, and you can sometimes see dolphins or catch whales as they migrate up and coast the coast.

Enjoy Craft Beer

San Diego is home to a thriving craft brewery scene. If you don’t have time to see them all, enjoy the cream of the craft crop by taking a craft beer tour. Don’t miss Double IPA, the famous San Diego Pale Ale.

Stroll Centennial Park

Head to Coronado Island for unbeatable views across the San Diego skyline. There’s a beautiful rose garden, a couple of picture-perfect gazebos, and plenty of space to stretch out on the grass and watch the world go by.

Visit Dog Beach

Even if you don’t have your own personal pooch, Dog Beach is going to make a great day out. It’s the only beach where dogs can run, bound, dig, and frolic to their heart’s content without being restricted by a leash, and it has been ever since 1972.
