The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon
At Jack Powell Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we have been eagerly awaiting the debut of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Finally, FCA US LLC unveiled the vehicle at the New York International Auto Show and all we can say is, “wow”.
Let’s begin with the engine. The 6.2-liter HEMI® Demon V8 is the world’s most powerful factory-production V8 engine. It punches out a mind-blowing 840 horsepower and can go from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds. The new Torque Reserve boots engine air flow and supercharger rpm before launch, which delivers ridiculously fast acceleration. At the test track, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was able to complete a quarter-mile lap in 9.65 seconds—making it the fastest 1/4-mile car in the world.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is a potent street car and a drag racers dream. Though, every component was scrutinized and optimized for weight, capability, and durability on the strip. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is looking to earn many “firsts”. It is the first-ever, factory-production car with TransBrake for more powerful and quicker launches. It is the world’s first production car to lift the front wheels at launch and set the world record for longest wheelie from a standing start by a production car at 2.92 feet. What’s more? The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon registers the highest g-force (1.8 g) ever recorded at launch in a production car.
All that power is accompanied by a retro-inspired exterior design with a striking wide-mouth hood scoop and air catcher headlamps. Inside, the advanced 8.4-inch Uconnect® touchscreen system is placed on the center stack and gets a unique version of Performance Pages.
Production of this limited-edition model begins later this summer with deliveries to begin this fall. In the meantime, we’ll be checking out the current Dodge Challenger models at our San Diego, CA area Dodge dealership.
