Electric Vehicle Rebates – What’s Available and What Qualifies?

If you’re shopping for a fuel-efficient hybrid or EV in Escondido, you might have heard that there are government incentives and rebates for vehicles that qualify. In California, there are two ways you can get rebates on EVs. There is the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project and then incentives from the federal government. 

We’ll cover both rebates and answer, “Does the Jeep Wrangler 4xe qualify for a tax credit?”

California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project

The CVRP as it’s called has limited funds, and California residents can take advantage of up to $7,500 off of full EVs if there is funding available. If there isn’t funding currently available, people who apply will be put on a standby list, but they aren’t guaranteed to get the rebate.

You’ll need to apply for the rebate through the CVRP website. For vehicles on our lot, the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is the only vehicle eligible for this program at the present time. In California’s program, you would get anywhere from $1,000 to $6,500 in rebates because the Pacifica isn’t a full EV for your Carlsbad drives.

Federal Government

The federal government has a similar program with a few differences. If you purchase your EV in 2023, you can get up to a $7,500 tax credit that can reduce your tax liability on your income taxes when you file your return for tax year 2023. The full $7,5000 is for purchasing an EV rather than a hybrid. A hybrid may be eligible for half of the $7,500 rebate, or $3,750.

Starting in 2024, the federal rebate is handled differently in that you will get the amount, either $7,500 or $3,750, as a price reduction when you first purchase the EV or hybrid.

Does the Jeep Wrangler 4xe Qualify for Tax Credits?

From the federal government, yes, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe does qualify for tax credits for your Vista drives. In 2024, that could be a rebate in the form of a price reduction of your purchase at the dealership.

Other vehicles on our lot that qualify for the federal rebate are the aforementioned Chrysler Pacifica and the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV.
